In a stay earlier this year at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a piece of take-home artwork was located in our room! The print featured Mickey and Pluto at the fireplace — and it was created by none other than Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse! Despite several stays since 2022 when it was first announced by Iwan himself, this was our first time receiving one in our room!

Here’s a look at the Bret Iwan take-home art at Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

The back of the artwork features details on the artwork.

Mickey Mouse relaxes with his pal Pluto in this custom work of take-home art from Disney Fine Artist Bret Iwan, best known to many Disney fans as the official voice of Mickey Mouse. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts architecture of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa – the same architectural style Bret has lovingly restored in his own Southern California home, the piece borrows colors from the iconic resort and mimics textures commonly achieved through traditional wood block printing techniques during California’s Arts & Crafts movement.

Explaining his choice of the hotel’s grand lobby fireplace as his artwork’s serene setting, Bret said, “Often the focal point of an Arts & Crafts home, any fireplace brings to mind a sense of gathering and togetherness, for me. This lobby fireplace is no exception, and in fact, it seems that, no matter what time of day you visit, guests are always gathered around it. The wood tones, the decorative motifs and plein air artwork throughout the lobby create a sense of place, but the fireplace both literally and figuratively radiates warmth. At the end of a magical day at the park, I can’t imagine a better place to relax, reflect and recharge.”

We hope this carefully crafted “Mouserpiece” finds a proud place in your commemorative collection and that your adventures ahead are truly “Grand.”
