For epicurious fans looking to taste their way through Universal Fan Fest Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, there’s a a special Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass available. The special lanyard offers what’s touted as an up to $100 value for noshing and sipping on themed eats and drink celebrating Star Trek, Back to the Future, Dungeons & Dragons, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Super Nintendo World.
Universal hosted us for a visit and to try out the Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass. Is it worth it? Let’s have a look. Here’s everything you need to know about Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass during Universal Fan Fest Nights 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass is a prepaid option that gives you a literal card that you can use to redeem for select food and drink items from select locations around the park.
There are dozens of exclusive food and drink options all around the park just for Fan Fest Nights and the good news is almost all of it (excluding alcoholic beverages) is eligible with the Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass. Additionally, many regular non-themed menu items are also available to redeem at most locations.
What You Get
- Each Dining Pass includes a total of six item redemptions:
- 2 eligible Entrée Items
- 4 eligible Eelect Items which typically include side, snack, dessert or beverage items.
How Much Is It?
- Cost: $65 plus tax
Where To Buy
- Dining Pass will be available for purchase at two kiosks located within the theme park as well as at participating theme park restaurants.
Know Before You Go
- All eligible menu items will be designated by a Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass logo on the restaurant menu boards.
- There are two different icons to differentiate Entree Items vs. Select Items.
- As a reminder, your Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass includes 2 Entree and 4 Select items.
- The Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass can only be used during the Fan Fest Nights event and must be fully used on the night purchased.
- Any remaining entitlements on a Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass are forfeited at the end of the event on the day of purchase. That means you cannot save redemptions for another visit.
Is it Worth It?
At $65 a pop, this is not a cheap upgrade to your evening so the value of it is dependent on your priorities for your evening. Fan Fest Nights is about 7 hours of play time so if you’re willing to devote time to enjoy everything the pass has to offer this could be a decent option. We had two passes and despite valiant efforts, we still finished the night short of using one of our redemptions.
To make sure you get the most value out of your six tabs, you want to try to redeem them on anything that’s going to be more than $10.83. Generally speaking, you’re looking at an Entree Item price range of $13.99 to $19.99 which makes choices of what to eat pretty easy. However, you’re also looking at a Select Item price range of $5.99 to $13.99 which makes it just a little tougher to clear. But as long as the average of the six items you get still comes out to $10.83, then you’re definitely saving some money.
Here’s how we did on our visit across the two Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass that we had.
Dining Pass 1
Total Select: $32.98
TOTAL: $66.96 ($1.96 savings)
AVERAGE PER ITEM: $11.60
Dining Pass 2
Total Select: $36.99
TOTAL: $70.97 ($5.97 savings)
AVERAGE PER ITEM: $11.83
So you can see our total average on both Dining Passes were above the $10.83 target average which means vs paying a la carte prices, we did get a little value out of each pass but not much. However, an important callout is Dining Pass 2 is the pass where we didn’t end up redeeming one of our Select Items but because we still ordered higher priced Select Items, the math still worked out in our favor.
But how does it compare to just paying cash a la carte? Had we paid for the exact same menu items in cash, our totals would have been $66.96 for Dining Pass 1 and for $70.97 for Dining Pass 2. If you are an Annual Pass member, depending on your pass level, you might score a better deal purchasing items a la carte using just your discount. For instance, with a Gold Annual Pass discount of 15%, the total cost for those items would have been $56.92 for Dining Pass 1 and $60.32 for Dining Pass 2.
In our experience, we were able to make the pricing of the Fan Fest Nights Dining Pass work to our advantage. Ultimately, you have to look at your interest level in the menu items available and weigh your options. So before you get ready to crunch on themed menu items, you’ll want to crunch some numbers to see what makes sense for your travel situation!
