Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 kicked off the first day with a huge look at everything upcoming from Lucasfilm. The big announcements included a new Ryan Gosling film called STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER and a new animated series MAUL — SHADOW LORD. There will also new seasons of LIGHT & MAGIC and YOUNG JEDI ADVENTURES plus more on previously-announced titles including THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU!

Star Wars: Starfighter
In Theaters May 28, 2027
- Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling were in attendance to discuss this new theatrical release. The standalone film, set five years after The Rise of Skywalker, will feature all-new characters and explore a previously unseen period in the Star Wars timeline.
- Production begins Fall 2025 on this new theatrical feature.

Maul – Shadow Lord
Premieres 2026 on Disney+
- Sam Witwer returned to the stage for the official reveal of this all-new series, including a first-look preview and commemorative poster for attendees.
- The new Disney+ series focuses on Maul and will continue Lucasfilm Animation’s expanding legacy of character-driven storytelling.

The Mandalorian and Grogu
In Theaters May 22, 2026
- Jon Favreau, Pedro Pascal, and Sigourney Weaver appeared on stage alongside Grogu to offer first-look images and behind-the-scenes details for the upcoming film.
- The theatrical debut of characters from the Disney+ series features the Mandalorian and Grogu on a thrilling galactic adventure.

Light & Magic Season 2
Now Streaming on Disney+
- Joe Johnston and Ron Howard greeted fans via video while a full panel of ILM luminaries discussed the evolution of VFX and introduced the trailer and key art for the new season.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld
Premieres May 4, 2025 on Disney+
- Dave Filoni and Athena Yvette Portillo led the Lucasfilm Animation panel which included the premiere of the anthology series’ first episode. Sam Witwer made a surprise appearance.
- This animated series features stories about Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane in a new collection of shorts exploring the Star Wars criminal underworld.

Young Jedi Adventures Season 3
Premieres Fall 2025 on Disney+ and Disney Jr.
- Nubs appeared at Star Wars LIVE! where it was announced that the new season will include new characters and droid-focused adventures.
- Set in the High Republic era, the series follows younglings Kai, Lys, and Nubs as they continue their Jedi training.
