Here’s a look at everything to enjoy at the A Great Big Beautiful Car Show during 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
What to Expect
As an homage to vintage Americana car shows, this pavilion is right on the Show Floor (Booth W2 in Hall D) at the Anaheim Convention Center and offers the chance for an up-close look at more than 30 vehicles from the Walt Disney Archives. Find favorite and iconic vehicles from beloved stories across the many worlds of Disney that have traveled on the big screen, television, and even right down the middle Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland.
The display below is a recreation of one that was used at the 1964 New York World’s Fair to showcase the latest Ford vehicles. You can see photos of that original display in Bill Cotter’s extensive photo library of the New York World’s Fair on his site.
Vehicles from Disneyland
Mickey’s 1939 Bantam Roadster; a Main Street, USA, Runabout vehicle; a Tron Lightcycle display from ElecTRONica; and a circa 1968 parking lot tractor tram.
Vehicles from World’s Beyond
A 2054 Lexus Maglev Pod and 2054 Lexus Roadster from Minority Report; Rey’s speeder from Star Wars: The Force Awakens; and the 2089 Weyland RT01 transport Rover from Prometheus.
Other Vehicles:
Walt Disney’s original 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL as featured in 1965’s That Darn Cat!; Ned Brainard’s 1915 Ford Model T Touring from The Absent-Minded Professor (1961); 1959 Austin A35 taxi featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1981 and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for several years; a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Herbie from The Love Bug (1968); and a hilarious recreation of The 1987 Homer first created in 2013 for promotional purposes and originally featured in the animated series The Simpsons (1989).
More contemporary titles represented include a 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Dharma van from the TV show Lost (2004); 1974 Panther DeVille from the 101 Dalmatians films (1996, 2000); Emma Swan’s yellow 1972 Volkswagen Beetle and and Cruella’s 1987 Zaiker from Once Upon a Time (2011); Sharpay’s 2008 Honda S2000 convertible from High School Musical 3 (2008); 2009 Ducati Sport 1000 from Tron: Legacy (2010); Jean-Pierre Napoleon’s custom-built Le Maximum from Muppets Most Wanted (2014); 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 and 1966 Ford GT40 MK II from Ford v Ferrari (2019); 2006 Ford E-250 Van from Nomadland (2020); Cruella’s 1974 Panther DeVille from the 2021 film Cruella; the Muppets’ Volkswagen Electric Mayhem Van from the Hollywood premiere of The Muppets Mayhem (2023); Harley Lightfoot’s valor van, and the Guinevere, used in promotion of the film Onward (2020).
