We’re proclaiming it now… the official acronym is DMPL and the first actor to achieve this legendary status (as far as we can tell) is none other than Yvette Nicole Brown!
We’re not talking about a cute indentation on the face, a DMPL is what we’re calling anyone who has achieved the status of having roles in films or series under each of the Mouse’s main studio brands: Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucas…. or DMPL for short!
EDITOR’S NOTE: This posting was updated 9/12 with recent image of Brown at D23 2024.
As far as we can tell, actor and activist Yvette Nicole Brown is the first! She has done something no other performer can claim yet: she has starred in film or television projects for all four major Disney brands. Brown has been seen or heard on-screen in Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm films and TV series. Not to mention her history with Twentieth Century Studios (formerly Fox) and ABC Television! What hasn’t she done?!
Brown’s latest role in this year’s surprise smash hit Inside Out 2 completes her run at the quadruple crown where she provides the voice for Coach Roberts. Her Disney credits include Lady and the Tramp (2019) and Disenchanted. She famously appeared as a SHIELD agent in Avengers Endgame for Marvel, and she has voiced Lt. Valeria in multiple Star Wars animated series for Lucasfilm. The vivacious superfan has also participated in and moderated countless panels over the years at fan conventions and events including D23!
Several actors have worked with three of the four brands including her Community co-star Donald Glover, as well as Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lupita Nyong’o, Patton Oswalt, Bobby Moynihan, Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, John Ratzenberger, Angela Bassett, Jude Law, and Alfred Molina. So far, Brown is the only actor to have worked with all four.
And while she may not be a Disney Legend (yet) the feat is truly… legendary!
