The 2024 Lunar New Year is under way at Disney California Adventure and we’ve got a look at everything there is to enjoy at this robust yearly tradition at the Disneyland Resort. This year’s special guest is Mushi commemorating the Year of the Dragon but there’s a bunch of friends, food, and fun to be had across the park.

Tasty New Year
A ton of flavors are packed into the park creating a miniature food festival. Several fan favorites have returned and new menu options are available to tempt the palate. Check out some of what we tried below.

Entertainment
Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession
The charming presentation features Mulan and Mushu along with other characters who accompany a series of dancers and musicians in this beautiful little pageant. It really is a must-see offering.
“Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration”
A heartwarming 6-minute tale of a little lantern’s quest to reunite with family told through projections, water, and other special effects. You can see full video of the show from our 2023 recording below.
Live Daily Performances
New tradition, Melody of China, Luna Lee, and other authentic Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese dancers and musicians can also be seen as part of the celebration.
Character Greets

Mulan and Mushu are also ready to greet guests and wish them a lucky, prosperous, and happy new year.
Mickey and Minnie can always be counted on to join a celebration and in designer outfits, no less. These beautiful outfits were created by award-winning couture fashion designer Guo Pei.
Raya is back at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and ready to greet guests.
Magic Key Features
Under the Silly Symphony, Swings Magic Key holders can find an exclusive photo backdrop by Ann Shen and some additional tables to lounge.
Activities
Several activities are available to help celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The Lucky Wishing Wall is back again, you can write out your wishes for the new year and share it here.
Crafts are available for the littles and the young at heart. You can color in these cute Mush fans commemorating the year of the dragon.
Skilled Chinese calligraphy artists honor the art of creating Chinese characters with brushed ink on red paper. These beautiful creations are complimentary keepsakes and you can choose the symbol you’d like to honor for the new year.
Merch Run
Guests celebrating the year of the dragon will find a selection of must-have merchandise items commemorating the 2024 Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure.
