THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is ready to settle down and the home release for this film features a familiar roster of deleted scenes, a gag reel, and audio commentary by quirky filmmaker Taika Waititi. We received a complimentary copy for review and are happy to share a peek into this comedic return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As always, bonus features may vary by product and retailer but here’s a look at what we had available. Three featurettes make up the bulk of the “making of” documentary that is a prerequisite for any worthwhile home release.
One of the themes in the film and within this franchise is the concept of being Hammer-worthy and that’s the name of the broad general look at the film and what it means to be Thor and The Mighty Thor. The piece focuses on the workout routines, costumes, and the emotional journey for Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman for their characters.
Shaping a Villain surrounds everything about Gorr the God Butcher and villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Christian Bale features to talk about the journey including 4 hours every day in a makeup chair and his ability to help craft the direction of the comic-book favorite.
Established in RAGNAROK, the THOR franchise was completely reinvigorated in a new direction with comedic twist and this final bonus feature, Another Classic Taika Adventure, takes a look at the filmmaker’s continuing adventures in this part of the MCU. Cast and crew talk about the creative energy from working with Waititi.
Supporting extras include the always-epic Marvel Gag Reel and with this cast and crew, it’s a glorious 2:45 minutes with flubs and gaffs from just about all of the main cast. There’s also an official Audio Commentary featuring director/writer Taika Waititi offering his trademark blend of silly and witty anecdotes that start off the bat with his well known stream of consciousness blaming the fact that he’s doing the recording solo on the fact that everyone else was too lazy.
- Looking for Zeus – Thor, Valkyrie and Korg run into a few characters while seeking an audience with Zeus.
