In response to the global changes brought about by the COVID-19 coronavirus, Disney confirmed updates to its previously released 2020 movie slate which includes a roster full of films from Disney, Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel Studios, and Fox. It looks like Star Wars might be down for the count theatrically until the end of 2022.
Aside from big shuffles including moving THE JUNGLE CRUISE to NEXT summer instead of this year, Disney’s ARTEMIS FOWL will no longer be released theatrically and instead make its big debut on Disney+ on a date to be “announced soon.”
Noticeably missing from Disney’s latest announcement are Marvel’s NEW MUTANTS and 20th Century’s THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW.
Moving to Disney+
ARTEMIS FOWL
Debuts on Disney+, date TBA.
ARTEMIS FOWL follows its titular 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl (a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds) who seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan-so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
