Cirque du Soleil’s Big Top returns to Orange County with a new energetic, urban and contemporary sports-inspired show, VOLTA. Performing under the Big Top at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, you can experience this show from March 18 – April 19, 2020.

Driven by a stirring melodic score and inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of street sports, VOLTA is a story of transformation. It is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one’s true potential, and recognizing one’s own power to make it possible. Ultimate freedom comes with self-acceptance, and with the liberation of the judgement of others.

The Music

04_Trampo_Wall3_Credit_Matt Beard_Costumes_ZaldyVOLTA features a live band including vocalists, violinists and percussion. This richness of this musical performance is stated to be perfectly synced with the acrobatics, helping to fully immerse guests into the world of VOLTA.

Written by composer Anthony Gonzalez (M83), the highly cinematic music of VOLTA is to evoke a complex array of emotions and moods. It utilizes as a narrative tool in its own right in order echo the different arcs in the storyline and express the distinct personalities of the worlds of VOLTA.

The Sports

VOLTA even features a BMX park mounted on stage that is said to lead to a breathtaking BMX finale as riders invade the stage to deliver a nonstop action-filled ending.

The Costumes

The costumes of VOLTA have been designed by Emmy Award winner Zaldy Goco, famous for his work with Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani and on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Every year, the local Cirque du Soleil production is followed by critical acclaim. It will be exciting to see this fresh all-new production hitting Southern California.
