Halle Bailey has been confirmed as Ariel in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of THE LITTLE MERMAID. The reboot of this classic tale in live action will be a full-fledged musical featuring beloved songs from the animated classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as new songs by Menken (music) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (lyrics).

Additional announcements regarding THE LITTLE MERMAID are expected in the coming weeks including a highly-anticipated confirmation for the role of Ursula which fell under social media fire last week when it was noted that Melissa McCarthy is in talks for the role. Musical artist Lizzo had very vocal fans who had other ideas for the role of the fabulous Disney villain.
The film is directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
THE LITTLE MERMAID reboot will begin production early 2020. An official release date has not yet been announced.
