From March 2 – April 12, you can enjoy the 2018 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival which brings with it tasting, sipping, learning, and entertainment options for the whole family. We visited last weekend for the opening weekend to get a taste of the festival and are happy to report back a bunch of the sights, flavors, and sounds.

Tasting Passports are available all over the place to help you wrangle the weekends events. It has details on menus, entertainment, and more.

There is also a food restriction index that shows the 2018 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival menu items that are Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, and Kid-Friendly. Pretty helpful! Now we move onto…

THE FOOD

Black garlic soy braised pork belly banh mi. $7.50. Fantastic! Pork Belly usually hits the top of our list and these one does the same for this festival. It doesn’t beat the Festival of Holidays version from last year but it’s a SOLID choice.

Korean BBQ beef short rib tacos. $7.50. We usually give high marks to anything KBBQ or with Short Ribs and these are no exception. There’s truthfully nothing very special here but the flavors are absolutely on point and delicious. Just wish there was something a little more special with these.

Jalapeno popper mac and cheese with bacon. $7.50. Usually we’re not very impressed with any of the Mac and Cheese dishes and while this one is not spectacular, the toppings really do a lot to elevate this dish. The salty bacon is a great seasoning and the crispy pieces of jalapeno add a really nice heat making this one of our group’s favorites.

Grilled Harris Ranch beef tenderloin slider with chimichurri sauce. $8. This is a solid choice. Tender delicious meat, lovely marinated onions, fresh chimichurri. Really great.

Spiced Oumph! on pita with avocado hummus and garlic sauce. $6.00. Fantastic Mediterranean flavors here and the Oumph protein is surprisingly pretty good with a texture and flavor of chicken.

Avocado and pepper jack petite guacamole burger. $7.75. Just not very special. The guac was not stellar and everything else was good but nothing combined here to make a standout offering.

Verlasso sustainable salmon Peruvian poke with cucumber-lime salad and Aji verde salsa. $7.50. This looks absolutely delicious, Didn’t get to taste it on this trip but will absolutely be making a second visit to try!

Sweet corn nuggets with beef chili. $6.75. Certainly not bad but just slightly strange. Not a disappointment by any means but probably wouldn’t recommend.

Salt and beer vinegar Parmesan chicken wings. $7.50 Cooked perfectly. Very moist. It seemed like these were crispy at one point but perhaps suffoated in its own moisture creating for wings that were not soggy but not crispy. Under the right conditions these could be stellar, the wings we had were not. However, portions here were pretty decent.

Caramel popcorn crispy treat. $4. Didn’t try this one but it sounds absolutely strange. Crispy treat with dried corn and popcorn inside.
