We had an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with the brains behind Disney’s classic 1993 comedy HOCUS POCUS, director Kenny Ortega (NEWSIES, DESCENDANTS) and prolific composer John Debney (Walt Disney World’s SpectroMagic, THE JUNGLE BOOK). Both were on hand at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood to introduce the opening night screening of HOCUS POCUS for this year’s Halloween engagement.

Here’s Kenny Ortega on working with Bette Midler and Marc Shaiman, the challenges of filming the film’s iconic “I Put A Spell On You” sequence and the film’s legacy today:

John Debney spoke on his inspirations for the film’s score and the incredible time constraints he was under after James Horner departed the project:
