Disney’s upcoming movie A WRINKLE IN TIME had quite the presence at D23 Expo. With very little released Expo goers were given an a look at the first trailer for the movie, as well as an interactive experience on the show floor.
The epic adventure is based on Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel by the same name, which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and ultimately, the triumph of love.
At the Panel
Oprah Winfrey (who plays Mrs. Which) joined director Ava DuVernay and co-stars Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Chris Pine (Mr. Murry), and newcomer Storm Reid (Meg Murry)
DuVernay described Disney as “the perfect place” for A WRINKLE IN TIME. Thrilled to attend her first D23 Expo, DuVernay told the audience, “I found my tribe—people who love movies as much as I do.” She said was excited to have a film with a diverse cast that looks like the real world. Every single person was her first choice for casting. She also debuted the first trailer for the film which you can see above.
Storm Reid despite saying she was nervous she was an adorably well spoken and appreciative young lady. She is effervescent with charm.
One of the best and funniest moments was having Oprah announce that everyone was taking home a movie poster, but making fun of herself saying “And you get a poster, and you get a poster.”
On the Showfloor
On the D23 Expo showfloor, the movie had concept art and an interactive experience where guests were able to take their picture and print it out with the characters.
A WRINKLE IN TIME opens in theaters on March 9, 2018
