Beautiful first look at Disney-Pixar’s new COCO, plus more synopsis

Paying homage to the Dia de los Muertos holiday, the tale should prove an interesting one based just on what we’re getting in this teaser poster. We see an adorable dog with a bone in his mouth but more interestingly there’s a big skeletal hand that’s petting the precocious pooch. The guitar leaned up against the wall is also quite skeletal in its design. This should be quite the visual journey! Perhaps unlike we’ve ever seen before from the house the lamp built?

The poster reveals more than first glance might indicate, if you look at the papel picado across the top we get a look at what can be assumed to be scenes and characters from the film:

There’s also a bunch of other subtle details including a bowl that indicates the adorable pooch’s name must be Dante, some mystical glowing petals, and those wicked skeletal details on the guitar…

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

COCO arrives in theaters November 22, 2017.
