Two big bits of entertainment news today for Walt Disney World!
First, Disney also confirmed today that WISHES will be glowing away at the Magic Kingdom as it makes way for a brand new fireworks spectacular: HAPPILY EVER AFTER. The new show will play nightly and is set to debut May 12.
Additionally, After what felt like an eternity of delays and setbacks, RIVERS OF LIGHT is finally ready to bring to life the nighttime skies over Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney confirmed today that the nighttime water spectacular will make its official debut on February 17.
About Happily Ever After
TheThe 18-minute spectacle promisees to feature more lasers, lights and projections than any Disney show before it. Of course, Tinker Bell will fly across the night sky.
It will also feature scenes from classic Disney films such as “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin” to modern blockbusters “Moana” and “Zootopia.” Cinderella Castle will become part of the story itself, with dazzling projections bringing heartfelt Disney stories to life on and around the iconic 18-story-tall castle. Quasimodo from “Hunchback of Notre Dame” swings from the turrets. Woody and his pals from Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” recreate the castle entirely out of toys. And Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” envelops the castle in her signature green flames.

The show joins a host of features intended to make the park more fun after dark including Kilimanjaro Safaris after sunset, entertainment at the Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale, and the Tree of Life which awakens after dark.
Continuing the grand Disney tradition of innovative, after-dark entertainment, “Rivers of Light” combines live performance, floating set pieces, a soaring musical score, fountains and more in a celebration of animals and nature. The story magically unfolds on the broad natural stage of the Discovery River, conveying the uplifting spirit of an ancient and timeless lantern ceremony and filled with symbolism, storytelling and plenty of heart.
