The weather did not put a damper on festivities last night at Disneyland as the Main Street Electrical Parade made its way through Walt Disney’s original park for the first time in 20 years. Last night, during a private up-charge party, guests were regaled with the return of the spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination.
You can get your shot starting tonight (weather permitting) from now through Sunday, June 18, 2017. The dazzling and colorful after-dark parade premiered in Disneyland in 1972 and has been seen at Disney Parks around the world. Although its last Disneyland Park performance was in November 1996, and at Disney California Adventure Park in 2010, it has continued to shine brightly in the memories of millions of guests after returning for a stint at Walt Disney World’s Magic kingdom.
The parade was not quite the exact nostalgic return that departed in 1996. Gone this time is the opening float with the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, we get our fairy dosage via the Pixie Hollow float that was created for Tinker Bell when the parade was still at Disney California Adventure. Many also reveled that the classic train pulling a giant drum with Mickey and crew in tow now once again reads “Disneyland Presents … Main Street Electrical Parade” in bright lights.
The Main Street Electrical Parade was performed more than 3,600 times for more than 75 million guests during its original run in Disneyland Park. The enduring popularity of the parade led to creation of Electrical Parades at Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Main Street Electrical Parade returned to the Disneyland Resort with an engagement in Disney California Adventure Park from 2001 to 2010.
Main Street Electrical Parade Dining Packages, including reserved viewing of the parade are available. For information, visit www.disneyland.com.
