Making 88 look oh so easy, Mickey Mouse is celebrating a historic voyage of bringing smiles to millions the world over. And in that vein, he recently completed a world tour visiting far reaches of the globe to celebrate and create a new music video, “What We Go.”
The music video premiered this morning on ABC’s Good Morning America and is also available on his official Facebook page. His appearance in New York City culminates the worldwide birthday tour which included stops in Los Angeles, Kyoto, Shanghai, Rome, Paris, Cusco and Rio de Janeiro!
The song “What We Got” from Walt Disney Records is also now available on digital retail and streaming services.
As part of the festivities today, Disney Channel will air blocks of Mickey Mouse programming throughout the day, including the premieres of two new cartoon series, and Disney Junior will debut the teaser trailer for the upcoming new series Mickey and the Roadster Racers. Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts will have special parade moments to mark the occasion.
In addition, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, Oh My Disney, Babble, and other Disney sites will be posting Mickey-related videos, galleries, stories, crafts, recipes, and shareables. It’s quite the celebration for the Big Cheese!
Mickey’s birthday is celebrated in honor of the release of his first theatrical film, Steamboat Willie, on November 18, 1928, at the Colony Theatre in New York City. Since then, he has starred in more than 100 cartoons and can currently be seen on Disney Channel in the Emmy®-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon series.
