The Oriental Land company has just released the latest attendance figures for the popular Tokyo Disneyland Park and Tokyo DisneySea Park showing park attendance down from last year.

The first half of this fiscal year (April 1 to September 30, 2014) saw a little less than a 2% decrease in attendance compared to the same time last year. The expected drop in attendance resulted from higher turn out last year due to the 30th Anniversary celebrations.

The press release notes that the total number of persons for the fiscal year was 15,099,000.

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Parks Attendance Figures for the First Half of Fiscal Year 2014

URAYASU, CHIBA—Tokyo Disney Resort® announced today that the total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland® Park and Tokyo DisneySea® Park during the first half of this fiscal year (April 1 to September 30, 2014) amounted to a figure of 15,099,000 persons (a decrease of 260,000 persons or 98.3% of the attendance figure for the same period last year). This is the second highest figure ever recorded for the first half of a fiscal year.

During the first half of this fiscal year, the new Tokyo Disneyland nighttime entertainment “Once Upon a Time,” presented from May 29, attracted Guests to the Parks. In addition, the Tokyo Disneyland attraction, Jungle Cruise, which reopened on September 8 in a new version titled Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions, as well as special events filled with seasonal elements held at the two Parks, also proved to be highly popular.

As this year follows immediately after the record high attendance during the Tokyo Disney Resort 30th Anniversary, a decline in turnout was expected in the initial forecast for this fiscal year.
