TOY STORY 5 is ready to jump from the big screen to the small screen at home. With a hosted review copy of the film, we took a look at the exclusive bonus content including deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes. The film follows Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the gang as they face a brand-new tablet device with its own ideas about how best to deal with play time.

The film was first available for purchase in Digital on August 18 and is now available in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD on September 22. Despite having a hosted copy, we are sharing our honest thoughts here. The digital and physical home release promise several bonus features including an inside look at playful behind-the-scenes moments from the recording booth, special feature commentary, and a collection of deleted scenes. Also arriving on September 22 is a limited-edition 4K SteelBook featuring classic characters alongside new tech characters.

The rollout of this title also includes a digital special-edition 2-Movie Collection featuring the original TOY STORY and TOY STORY 5 in 4K Ultra HD, as well as the 5-Movie set collecting all five adventures in digital and DVD bundles. Additionally, families can pre-order the TOY STORY 5 Original Soundtrack in vinyl and CD formats featuring the hit single “I Knew It, I Knew You” and an original score by Randy Newman.

This home release features several featurettes looking into the behind-the-scenes magic. The Toys Are Back in Town clocks in at just under 20 minutes serving as a broad look at the whole film with cast and crew as well as a reflection on 30 years of these iconic characters. Some great insights into the character and story development but overall a little dry, surprisingly. The Lost Toys might be the most fun piece out of the bunch showcasing the meeting rooms, story pitches, and fun bits of actual behind-the-scenes magic showcasing characters and story threads that were ultimately abandoned for the final product– I need more Calamity Cow!  Casting Playtime takes a closer look at the newbies joining the boy box while 50 Buzzes and The Great Escape takes a look at Andrew Stanton’s vision realized of having a mind hive of multiple Buzz Lightyear toys working togther without the self-realization learnings of our hero Buzz. Plus, we get a host of Deleted Scenes and you always know when filmmakers are passionate about their projects (and/or have the time) as we get director Andrew Stanton and co-director Kenna Harris introducing every single piece giving context to why the scene was removed which is always so nice to have with deleted scenes.
