THE CHEETAH GIRLS: NEXT GEN is executive produced by Debra Martin Chase and Raven-Symoné, with Adrienne Bailon serving as a co-producer. The project marks a major milestone in a landmark year for Disney Channel fans, coinciding with the milestone anniversaries of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and HANNAH MONTANA, leading into the summer premieres of DESCENDANTS: WICKED WONDERLAND and CAMP ROCK 3, and the return of the Worlds Collide Tour this fall. The original trilogy—THE CHEETAH GIRLS, THE CHEETAH GIRLS 2, and THE CHEETAH GIRLS: ONE WORLD—remains available to stream in the Throwbacks Collection on Disney+.
About the Film
The story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Raven-Symoné) and Chanel (Adrienne Bailon), alongside Galleria’s daughter Faith (Leah Sava’ Jeffries) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Along the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice, and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls. The movie stars Leah Sava’ Jeffries as Faith, Carmen Sanchez as Dior, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn, and newcomer Kamogelo Ramashala as Kendi. Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter reprise their roles as Dorothea and Juanita, Sabrina Bryan makes a special appearance as Dorinda, and Sophia Bush appears in a supporting role as Jennifré.
The film is directed and co-produced by Bille Woodruff and written by Kara Holden, Sarah Watson, and Deborah Swisher. The movie is produced by Disney Kids & Family and features choreography by Kyle Hanagami. The films are based on “The Cheetah Girls” book series by Deborah Gregory.
