The digital and physical home release promise several bonus features including cast and filmmakers looking back on journey over years with flashbacks, callbacks, and musical moments. A two-film bundle is also available pairing the 2003 fan-favorite Freaky Friday with the new film.
This home release could arguably have been the preferred format for this film originally instead of a big theatrical jump. As big fans of the original 2003 classic, we weren’t exactly smitten by the reboot which felt especially over-produced and watered down HOWEVER the film still carries the energy and heart of the original. So while there were a lot of truly strange choices made for this film, it was still an enjoyable rewind. Sorta like flashing back into that comfy old sweater. The assortment of extras here are about what we’d expect with a HEAVY dose of deleted scenes, a fun Flashback Friday looking back at tributes to the original film, and some behind-the-scenes making-of pieces. A music video here felt decidedly apropos considering for the source material.
