Midsummer Scream definitely leans into the realms to scares, haunts, and terrors but Disney fans are resilient enough to handle the fun in store at the Long Beach Convention Center for the yearly annual event. Themed entertainment is a broad umbrella and a lot of Disney fandom ends up finding its way in — there’s so much to explore and uncover and we’re happy to share a peek at what we enjoyed.
Here’s a look at what we saw at 2025 Midsummer Scream that would catch the eyes of a Disney fan at the Long Beach Convention Center.
What We Saw
Midsummer Scream always provides an eclectic mix of sights, sounds, flavors, smells, and feels — a true feast for all the senses. As an early kick off to the mayhem of the busy haunt season each year, it’s always great to get an early look at some of the creative ways people will be getting spooky for the season, especially when there’s a Disney twist!
Cosplayers all around the event showcase their creativity bringing to life iconic re-creations and re-interpretation of favorite spooky characters and, of course, you can expect there to be Disney representation, as well. From Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, and beyond. Plus, throw in fan-favorite from Disney’s broader acquisition umbrella from 20th Century Studios and you’re bound to see someone that will stop you dead in your tracks. You can see some of the awesome cosplays we spotted below.
There’s also a packed schedule of event programming and panel discussions that either fully feature Disney-related content or you can also find tangential offerings that may involve notable people who have contributed to Disney’s legacy — be they in front of the camera, behind it, or involved with Disney’s expansive offerings including the Disney Parks.
To that end, it’s always a highlight when we get to see incredible Disney Legend Bob Gurr whose ties with Disney are as incredible as they are long. The incredible former Imagineer helped bring to life the iconic Haunted Mansion Omnimover system that gives its signature Doom Buggy vehicles full 360 spinning capability. This is just clawing at the surface of his notable achievements which he’s happy to talk about if you stop by his booth.
Beyond the appearance of notable figures, there’s tons of vendors and exhibitors showcasing all kinds attention grabbing offerings. You’ll find vendors selling original authentic items as well as fan-inspired wares including unique ear headbands and tees featuring a wide array of familiar characters and stories. Some of the exhibitors that caught our eyes this year include The Halloween Shirt Company, Zombie Lounge Boo-tique, Le Bownitte by Beatrice, Jennifer’s Sugar Cookies, The Vogel Victorian, Bronson’s Shop of Horror, The Rotting Dead, and of course, the iconic Ghostly Retreat Airbnb. Plus in the iconic Hall of Shadows, there was an entire unofficial haunted walk through called Sid’s Twisted Toy Box with a myriad of miscreants that only minds like those from Sid could dream up.
And while literally not Disney, fans of the parks will also be able to enjoy presence from studios and parks including Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Scary Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, and more.
