Butterbeer Season is back again at Universal Parks for the 2025 season with new and favorite treats celebrating the iconic drink from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter from March 1 through Saturday, May 31, 2025. Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort are commemorating the liquid gold beverage and we were invited to check out some of the offerings this year.

With hosted admission, we were able to see what’s on tap for this year and are happy to share our honest thoughts and a look at everything you can expect.

Reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread, the magical drink has become an undeniable theme park sensation with a myriad of ways to enjoy the iconic flavor. Here’s a taste of what you can expect this year.

New Butterbeer Offerings

Butterbeer Cream Puff

This one has a decent not-too-sweet butterbeer filling but as with most theme park cream puffs, freshness is speculative and these get stored in the fridge which alters the appropriate texture. We didn’t love these but the cookie on top with the salted butterbeer whipped cream was nice.

Butterbeer-Flavored Chocolate Bar

At $10 each, we found the price to be a little steep for a very thin candy bar that didn’t exactly taste as luxe as its price would seemingly indicate.

Butterbeer Ice Lolly

Seemingly with a new recipe from last year, found this to be a perfect creamy way to enjoy butterbeer flavor that’s not too intense and complimented perfectly by the white chocolate shell. This treat will now be available year-round and we highly recommend giving it a try. When we tried this last year it was a bit more icy and less creamy. It also tasted more of coconut than anything but this year it has a lovely butterbeer flavor and could potentially give a Mickey Premium Bar a run for its money

These sweet, rich, decadent treats pack a wollop only matched by that of the womping willow.

Regular Butterbeer Favorites

Classic Butterbeer

There are three different types of butterbeer, each perfect in its own way:
- Cold: The classic drink is a good balance of flavor complemented by the sticky thick cream on top
- Hot: Our favorite way to enjoy the drink, its rich, sweet, and comforting like a hot cocoa
- Frozen: A great way to enjoy the drink with a more mellow flavor and a nice frosty texture.

Butterbeer Soft Serve Ice Cream

Vanilla soft serve ice cream with the choice of one of several a flavor ribbons including Butterbeer. Oddly, the butterbeer swirl reminds us of a rootbeeer float but it does still have a distinctly butterbeer flavor.
The frozen delight is available by the cup ($7.29), waffle cone ($8.29), or in a souvenir

Butterbeer Potted Cream

Rich and thick, this one is evocative of flan with a super sweet butterbeer syrup on top of the buttery custard. It’s quite sweet but very tasty.

Decadent, sweet, dense, and thick. It tastes good but it’s extremely rich and very easy to share
