Although it’s hardly destination worthy, Disney has printed up a few fun signs paying homage to the history and legacy of the iconic locomotives at the Happiest Place on Earth. You won’t find it listed on a map but you can head to Mickey’s Toontown Station in Fantasyland for a look at some displays offering up some displays about the Disneyland Railroad.

Here’s a look at what you can expect to find at Mickey’s Toontown Station while the Disneyland Railroad is under refurbishment!

During daytime hours, you might find Cast Members on hand ready to share their knowledge and passion about the Disneyland Railroad or feel free to simply peruse the posters and informational signage at your own pace to learn more Disneyland’s fleet of locomotives.

  • C.K. Holliday (July 17, 1955) – Named after Cyrus Kurtz Holliday, founder of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway. Built by Disney Imagineers in 1955, it was designed specifically for Disneyland. It is a 4-4-0 American-style locomotive, inspired by classic 19th-century steam engines.
  • E.P. Ripley (July 17, 1955) – Named for Edward Payson Ripley, one of the first presidents of the Santa Fe Railway. Like the C.K. Holliday, it was built by Disney Imagineers in 1955 for Disneyland’s opening. This locomotive was on the park’s inaugural run, with Walt Disney himself at the throttle.
  • Fred Gurley (March 28, 1958) – Named after Fred G. Gurley, then-president of the Santa Fe Railway. Originally built in 1894 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, it served as a logging train in Louisiana. It is the oldest locomotive in regular service at any Disney park.

  • Ernest S. Marsh (July 25, 1959) – Named for Ernest S. Marsh, a former president of the Santa Fe Railway. Built in 1925 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, it previously worked on a sugar plantation in Hawaii. This was the first Disneyland locomotive to be fully restored on-site.
  • Ward Kimball (June 25, 2005) – Named for Disney animator and train enthusiast Ward Kimball. Originally built in 1902 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, it was formerly a sugar plantation train in Louisiana. It is the only Disneyland locomotive to feature a working headlamp bell instead of a traditional steam whistle.
