Because of the talent of the performers who do the work, it’s so easy to take for granted the the voices of your favorite characters are created by actual people! That’s why panels like the one for Character Voices: Inside the Studio at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event are such a treat as you get to see the people behind the enormous personalities we know on screen.

Here’s a look at everything we experienced at Disney Character Voices: Inside the Studio at the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

What We Learned

  • Ben Hoppe, Director, Disney Character Voices was the host for this panel
  • Panelists included Bill Farmer, Bret Iwan, David Errigo Jr, Debra Wilson, Issac Robinson-Smith, Kaitlyn Robrock, Katie Von Til, and Piotr Michael
  • Woody voice actor Jim Hanks (Tom Hanks’ brother) who has now voiced over 300 projects for Disney/Pixar as Woody took the stage to show everyone some different styles of recording Woody’s voice
  • Disney Legend and voice of Donald Duck Tony Anselmo joined the stage briefly to treat fans to some of his talents.
  • Ben Hoppe then asked for two audience members to help do a scene with Jim and Piotr Michael 
  • Ken Page voice of Oogie Boogie surprised guests and sang “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from THE LITTLE MERMAID
  • Bret, Bill, and Kaitlyn acted out a scene as Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy and the rest of the panel played their emotions.
