There is so much excitement for THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS and after what we’ve seen at San Diego Comic-Con, the new MCU franchise seems like it will absolutely deliver in all the best ways.

Ending the Marvel Studios panel with one heck of a bang, Marvel’s Kevin Feige welcomed the Russo brothers to the stage to confirm that both Anthony and Joe Russo (directors of four Marvel movies and the studio’s highest-grossing directors with over $6 billion in global earnings) are returning to direct more films.

20240727_185941Without mentioning or discussing the cosmic shift in storyline priorities, it was confirmed that the next two epic team up films will be AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY (set for release May 2026) and THE AVENGERS: SECRET WARS (set to release May 2027). But the announcements that got the crowds to their feet was the surprise reveal of Robert Downey Jr. who will be playing Doctor Doom. Hall H erupted with fans chanting “RDJ!”

The Russo’s company AGBO is set to produce both films alongside Marvel Studios. Stephen McFeely, known for his work on the “Captain America” trilogy and “Avengers: Endgame,” will handle the script.
