Once again, the Her Universe Fashion Show took San Diego’s Manchester Grand Hyatt by storm and this year it was in celebration of the event’s 10th anniversary! As always, the evening was packed with a positively powerful display of geek couture with an emphasis on fans, fun, and creativity.
Having attended every version of the show since it’s inaugural year it’s wonderful to see how far everything has grown in the past decade!
Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein cohosted this year with Broadway’s Michael James Scott. In total, 25 designers were tasked to participate creating looks inspired by iconic fandoms including those celebrating the 80th anniversary Mattel, 65 years of Barbie, and 35 years of Polly Pocket!
Once again, there were two winners this year, Judges Pick was Wes Jenkins from Orlando, FL and Audience Pick was Candice Miller from Louisa County, VA.
Judges this year included 2023 Her Universe Fashion Show winning designers Rachel Petterson and Raeven K, plus Robin Motts, SVP of Hot Topic Merchandising, Vivienne Medrano, creator of Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, and Robert Best, VP of Barbie Product Design at Mattel.
