Disney and Pixar’s INSIDE OUT 2 has made $728.6 million worldwide so far after two weekends of release making it the highest-grossing movie of 2024 (so far). The promising run puts it as a contender for best of the whole year but high-profile films yet to release this year include DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE, JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX, and DESPICABLE ME 4.

A massive second weekend for the film in which INSIDE OUT 2 brought in $101 million domestically. That makes Inside Out 2 only the seventh film in history to make $100 million in its second weekend. The film also had the best second weekend ever for an animated film and the best second weekend percentage drop for any film to open over $150 million.

On opening weekend the film brought in $292 million worldwide making it the biggest global animated opening of all-time (when using current exchange rates and in like-for-like markets). That was also enough to not only be the biggest box office opening of the year, but the second-biggest animated box office opening of all time domestically behind another Pixar film, 2018’s INCREDIBLES 2.

Kensington Tallman voices Riley Andersen, who’s about to begin high school, and Lilimar voices Valentina “Val” Ortiz, a high school hockey player who everyone, including Riley and her friends, looks up to. Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan reprise their roles as Riley’s mom and dad; Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green and Grace Lu voice Riley’s besties; and Yvette Nicole Brown voices Coach Roberts, who leads a summer hockey camp.

The voice cast also includes Sarayu Blue, Flea, Ron Funches, Dave Goelz, James Austin Johnson, Bobby Moynihan, Frank Oz, Paula Pell, Paula Poundstone, John Ratzenberger, Kendall Coyne Schofield, June Squibb, Kirk Thatcher, and Yong Yea. The film is directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, with a score by Andrea Datzman.
