After teasing the surprise theatrical sequel getting an upgrade from Disney+ series, Disney has provided a first look at the titular hero of the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios feature length film MOANA 2.

We get a good look at Moana with her trusted paddle with a gigantic island at her back that has a pair of piercing blue eyes. The image was released today during the Walt Disney Company 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders by Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Iger provided some context for the new teaser image: “Three years since her first voyage, Moana is heading out on an epic journey to find and reconnect the people of the ocean. We can’t wait to take audiences on another amazing journey with Moana and Maui, and we are excited to confirm that both Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson are back reprising their roles.”

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical MOANA 2 takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

The film is directed by Dave Derrick Jr. with music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
