Today, at Star Wars Celebration in London, Lucasfilm and Disney shared a peek at the upcoming feature film lineup coming from a Galaxy far, far away. The headline grabbing announcement that Daisy Ridley will return as Rey in a new film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was perhaps the biggest news. In addition, Dave Filoni and James Mangold will be behind two additional films in the works.

During the fan-packed event, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy revealed how STAR WARS will head into the future including a new feature film set 15 years after the last events of the Skywalker Saga. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will craft the the story of Rey rebuilding the New Jedi Order along with the powers that rise to tear it down.

Kennedy also announced that James Mangold will take audiences deep into the past, telling the tale of the first Jedi to wield the Force and harness it as a liberating power in an era of chaos and oppression.

Fan-favorite Dave Filoni will orchestrate more stories in the Star Wars “present” with an escalating war between the Imperial Remnant and the fledgling New Republic. Alongside producer Jon Favreau, they will bring together many of the threads of the “Star Wars” original series in what Disney promises will be a cinematic event.

See it for Yourself
