Disneyland will soon be home to FROZEN BOBSLED RACERS which will be the focal point of a just-announced broader Fantasyland expansion project. Details are light but what was confirmed is that the icy slopes of the Matterhorn Bobsleds will be transformed to feature familiar characters from not just the 2013 FROZEN feature film but also subsequent animated shorts and the sequel film from the franchise.
Based on concept renderings, it looks like similar animatronics to those seen in Frozen Ever After attraction at EPCOT will be added into the Matterhorn Bobsled interiors. Long time fans will recognize gleaming crystals once again returning to the icy caverns — they were removed in a recent update of the attraction.
The official announcement confirms that “The Royal Kingdom of Arendelle” will be one of three new fantastical neighborhoods added to Fantasyland and it will expand into the area between the refreshed Matterhorn attraction and the classic “it’s a small world.” It was confirmed that there will be new dining and shopping opportunities plus a new permanent meet and greet for Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and even Sven.
Details on the other two neighborhoods in the Fantasyland expansion are expected to be announced later this year at Destination D23 in Orlando. It’s unclear at this point if the Fantasyland Theater, Disneyland Monorail or Autopia attractions will be interrupted as part of the new expansion.
It looks like Elsa’s icy-breathed creation, Marshmallow, will be moving in and kicking out the current yeti unofficially referred to as Harold.
See it for Yourself

April fool’s
This better be April Fools…….
Well, I hate the Matterhorn so I wish this were a real thing.
April Fools 😆
Soooo. An expansion that includes no new rides. Just more opportunities for guests to spend money and the degradation of a classic attraction overseen by Walt and draped in product placement. Well, I guess the higher ticket prices will be worth it.
Well said. That’s all we need. Every time they build something over something that Walt actually did, it’s like a vandal painted a mustache on the Mona Lisa. That’s all we need when we’re riding down the slopes is to have to look at a gay snowman, which is obviously something that Walt Disney would never have approved of in a million years. And why, was it because Walt Disney was not modern enough, no. It’s because today is Disney staff has perverted nature, the wholesome Disney ideal that made it great, and Truth.
Way to show you are a bigot Lou. I guess you can’t handle an April fool’s joke at all. But hey thanks for showing how much of a hate filled fool you are
Not cool
Didn’t even register as April fools seeings as how Disney is trying to attach a much IP as possible to older rides to sell more merch.
