If you’re on vacation, one of the last things you want to be worried about is the speed of the internet connection in your hotel room — especially when you’re at a Disney resort such as Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina. But sometimes the need may arise — perhaps an unexpected work need or you just really HAVE to upload that video review of your Mickey shaped-shave ice.
So can you rely on the wifi at Aulani to come through in a pinch? The short answer is, kinda.
Any tech-obsessed traveler knows that wifi connections in hotel rooms are usually always going to be sparse and far from ideal. Disney, unfortunately, doesn’t really deviate from that general expectation. On a recent visit in November 2021, we used SpeedTest.net, to gauge the wifi speed in our room on the twelfth floor at Aulani. On average, we clocked wifi speeds at about 27.5mbps download and 22.8mbps upload.
If you’re not a tech-nerd and don’t know what that means, those numbers are not great. You’ll definitely be able to browse the internet, check your email, and watch some YouTube videos but you’re not really going to find yourself sailing smoothly with the wifi connect at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina. In fact, we found that our T-mobile data connection afforded us quicker download speeds while in Hawaii.
So really, you’re better off trying to surf the waves the surf the net while at Aulani, The moral of the story is ENJOY YOUR VACATION! Unplug, unwind, and let the spirit of Aloha take you over.
