The Snuggly Duckling Tavern in Fantasyland at Disneyland is the topic for debate in this edition of the Yeah Right Files. The Tangled tower addition to Fantasyland at Disneyland a few months ago may have been the only physical incarnation of the film to make it into the park, but by no means is it the only way the world from Disney’s TANGLED could have been integrated.

Located just next to the area that is still currently used for the popular meet and greet for Rapunzel is the Village Haus restaurant. In another world, with a good bit of reworking, the tried and true Fantasyland restaurant would have become The Snuggly Duckling Tavern.
The Snuggly Duckling is a cozy little nook with a rough but warm tone renowned amongst ruffians, thugs, and also men with pointy teeth. The real-world incarnation would be filled with some of the same details from the film (designed by Gunter himself, of course) mounted antlers, wagon wheel chandeliers, and plenty of arrows and axes strewn about; all befitting of a proper rogue’s outpost.
The restaurant would even feature a working Snuggly Duckling tap behind the counter! Unlike the film though, this special tap wouldn’t open up secret passages. Instead, guests would be able to fill up by the mug-full with special frothy Dark Forest Grog. Those familiar with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida need only take a look at the popularity of Butterbeer to understand the goal here. The non-alcoholic Dark Forest Grog would only be sold at the Snuggly Duckling Tavern.
As far as food, guests can munch on a variety of filling eats including the Maximus Field Greens Salad with green apples and candied walnuts, Anglehair Aflredo with Chicken, or customizable Flatbread Pizzas. The standard issue kid’s meals would come with a Pascal color-changing straw. And for dessert, Atila’s Chocolate Cupcakes are said to be sublime, they’re topped with candy unicorn sprinkles.
What better way to enjoy an immersive meal than with live entertainment? The Snuggly Duckling Dreamer’s Collective is made up of a group of ruffians who’ve banded together to encourage each other to peruse their dreams, a humorous AA sort of grouping. Apart from live music, the troupe blends comedy with off-beat interactive moments such Fang’s Puppet-time theater which invites kid’s to be part of the show. Think the pirate Bootstrappers band with a mix of Laughing Stock, Co. and you’ll get a taste of the atmosphere entertainment proposed for the area.
Those with a keen eye may have noticed a tribute to Pinocchio in Tangled. The restaurant’s similar coy inclusion of the character, hidden in the rafters, would be an homage not just to the film but also to it’s former Pinocchio theme.
The fantastical new realm would also make the perfect location as a princess dining location. With princesses rotating between the restaurant and the new Fantasy Faire that will be added to the front of the castle, it will offer more ways for guests to interact with princesses in the only part of the resort where they truly make sense, Fantasyland! Ariel’s Grotto in DCA would remain the popular character dining but would instead return back to featuring classic Disney characters along with the restaurant’s name change.
With the new more expensive menu in Fantasyland, the Big Thunder BBQ menu would be readjusted and expanded to accommodate the quick-eats crowds. The restaurant would include more affordable options. Gone would be the buffet style BBQ dining and in its place would be the addition of pulled pork and chicken sandwiches to the existing menu.
So who’s hungry?
About the Yeah Right Files
Among the Disney fandom, rumors are the source of hours of conversation, debate, and sometimes just pure hilarity. Any word on the loop being added to Space Mountain at Disneyland? Rumors all get started somewhere. Sometimes they start from a grain of truth and sometimes they are completely ridiculous out of left field conjectures fabricated from fancy.
The Yeah Right Files is a series on MouseInfo dedicated to random, archaic, dare we say esoteric stabs in the dark at fabricating the randomest of rumors; none of which with any factual merit.
