Variety confirmed today in an interview that John Williams will be penning the theme for upcoming Star Wars story stand-alone flick SOLO. Composer John Powell is going to write the film’s overall score.
The indelible sounds of the Star Wars universe have been under guidance of Williams since the very beginning. His Oscar-winning work in the original 1977 would be continued for complete scores on all eight of the Saga films to date. The score for 2016’s ROGUE ONE was reated by Michael Giacchino but bears unmistakable ties to the original DNA of the sound of the universe..
SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will take place before the events of STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE exploring the adventures of charming smuggler Han Solo and his friend and companion Chewbacca. The cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, plus Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, andPhoebe Waller-Bridge.
Crewing the ship will be some of the industry’s top talent, including Academy Award nominee for his work on “Arrival,” Bradford Young (Director of Photography), Chris Dickens (Editor), Dominic Tuohy (SFX Supervisor), Rob Bredow (VFX Supervisor) and Brad Allan (Action Designer). They will be joining returning Star Wars veteran crew members Neal Scanlan (Creature & Droid FX Creative Supervisor), Neil Lamont (Production Designer), Dave Crossman and Glyn Dillon (Co-Costume Designers), Jamie Wilkinson (Prop Master), Lisa Tomblin (Hair), Amanda Knight (Make-Up) andNina Gold (UK Casting Director).
SOLO lands in theaters May 25, 2018.
