Today, we continue our series of insider looks at Disney-Pixar’s INSIDE OUT with some insights from Mindy Kaling who plays Disgust in the film! We’ll be exploring the film with a new article each day leading up to its theatrical release.
As part of the series, we’re sharing an inside look with several key people involved in the film including director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera as well as the film’s other key voice actors: Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, and Phyllis Smith.
INSIDE OUT opens minds in theatres June 19, 2015.
Bill Hader – “Fear”
Bill Hader was one of the first people cast for the film. Not only did he voice the character of Fear but he also signed on early on to help with the writing on the project. Turns out he was already a big Pixar fan before even being approached to work on the project so he landed a dream role working on this project.
During the press conference, he and the others on the panel had the entire room in stitches. At the end of the press conference, he and Amy Poehler tried to steal the audio recorders and phones used to record the audio from the event. There’s a group chemistry amongst the mismatched personalities that is evident here and it’ss magnetic.
One a more serious note, one special component to the core of INSIDE OUT is that encourages you to consider and appreciate ALL of your emotions. It puts them into perspective and shows that every single one them is an important part of establishing who we are as people. Growth comes from experiencing all our emotions, not just the one that we always strive for: happiness. Hader talked about his own struggles growing up saying he felt that his “life would have been easier if this film existed when [he] was a kid.”
THE END!
But wait, there’s more!
