There’s nothing quite like the buzz after the announcement of a sequel or a reboot and in this case it’s sort of both. Universal Studios Florida confirmed today that it will be getting its own version of the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster. The version at Universal Studios Hollywood is speeding towards its grand opening this year while fans in Florida will get their first test drives in 2027.
Here’s the latest look at we know for the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.
What to Expect
Replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, the upcoming second iteration of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will put guests in the driver seat of an exhilarating 360-degree drifting coaster. The attraction promises to speed through several maneuvers including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.
Universal also confirmed that Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027 which is more exciting news for us because that can hopefully only mean even more announcements for its replacement in the future.
Sneak Peek
Last year, fans got a first look at one of the ride vehicles at Universal Studios Hollywood which you can see below.
About the Ride
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift promises high-speed roller coaster adventure. At Universal Studios Hollywood, the attraction is set to open on the Upper Lot with 360-degree rotating vehicles designed to simulate drifting along approximately 4,100 feet of track that winds above parts of the park — including the escalator between lots. The iconic coaster will reach speeds of up to 72 MPH—making it the fastest in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.
At Universal Studios Florida, the attraction will also feature the signature 360-degree rotating vehicles designed to simulate drifting and speed through several maneuvers including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.
See it for Yourself
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open at Universal Studios Hollywood 2026 and Universal Studios Florida in 2027. An official opening date has not yet been announced for either attraction.
