It’s exciting to be excited about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge again at Disneyland with the confirmation that the west coast version of the land will be making several changes to update and expand its offerings to include cherished characters and storylines from classic Star Wars films and media. New characters will debut in the land including Han Solo and Leia Organa joining the likes of Luke Skywalker, the Mandalorian (and Grogu) and other characters from the earlier timelines in the canon. And it’s all expected to debut by April 29, 2026.

Here’s a complete recap of everything Disneyland will be updating at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge to expand the land’s timeline and offerings.

What’s NOT Changing

  • Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run was previously confirmed to be getting an update to feature The Mandalorian and Grogu — those plans remain on course for official debut on <ay 22, 2026.
  • The incredible Rise of the Resistance E-ticket attraction will not be modified from its current incarnation featuring storylines from the sequel trilogy of films.
  • The forested area on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost will also continue to represent a time inspired by the Age of the Resistance from the sequel trilogy of films.
  • Favorite characters will still be available:
    • You may find Rey around the existing Resistance camp. No other characters have been confirmed to be seen in this area with her.
    • Back in the Marketplace, encounters with Ahsoka Tano and The Mandalorian and Grogu will continue as before.
  • Favorite dining options will also remain with fan favorite menu offerings although Disney has not confirmed one way or the other about specifics for each locaiton.
  • Evening entertainment will also remain in place including:
    • Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga  projection show exploring the legendary story of the Skywalkers
    • Fire of the Rising Moons on select evenings which showcases a unique view of the Disneyland park fireworks accompanied by iconic music and tales from across the galaxy.

What IS Changing

Character Greets

  • Darth Vader will be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers as they seek the clues to find hints of the Force around the outpost
  • Kylo Ren will be relocating from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to the Disney Visa character meet and greet in Tomorrowland according to Disney beat reporter Scott Gustin
  • Luke Skywalker will roam the outpost seeking knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building, kyber crystals, and more
  • Leia Organa may be spotted near the Millennium Falcon, where she’ll recruit travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe
  • Han Solo also will linger around his prized ship, tempted by the local cantina
  • Chewbacca will be reunited with Han and Leia among the rocky spires of the outpos t– it’s expected he may visit both the Resistance Camp and the Marketplace
  • R2-D2 will also continue to roll through the land — it’s expected he may visit both the Resistance Camp and the Marketplace
  • Vi Moradi is a character often seen around the land looking for Resistance Recruits, it’s unclear if the character will continue to be seen anywhere in the park.

More John Williams Music

  • Intermixed with the land’s already epic soundtrack, the land will further be enhanced with the addition of beloved scores from legendary composer John Williams including themes from the first six films.
  • Passing through the tunnels of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the iconic “Main Title” and Force Theme will beckon you to a galaxy far, far away.
  • As you wander through the land, you’ll hear motifs from other classic tracks including “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” “The Emperor” and more.
  • The lively tune “Cantina Band” will be heard from within Oga’s Cantina.

Backstory Details

With parts of the land taking a rewind of approximately 30 years, several of the crafted details that make up the backbone of the land will also be adjusted.

  • Oga’s Cantina exists in an era of the Galactic Civil War and proprietor Oga Garra only recently just opened this watering hole that is already becoming a popular spot for intergalactic travelers.
  • First Order Cargo will transform into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy, including Imperial and Rebel items from the Galactic Civil War.
  • Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will display a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past. The curiosities and artifacts in his shop certainly change with the times.
  • Droid Depot remains largely unchanged in function but it’s backstory will see an earlier generation of the Mubo family operating the popular shop where they are prototyping early versions of BB style of droid. You’ll still have the opportunity to purchase and create your own droid companion.
  • Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers will continue to see its proprietor on the search for information on lightsabers and the Force. With the adjustment in timeline it seems Luke Skywalker will be interested in meeting with Savi. You will continue to have the opportunity to purchase and build your own lightsaber.
