They say it’s not easy being green but this year from flying witches to disgruntled Grinches, Universal is fixated on their characters with verdigris. If you’re looking to celebrate the Grinchmas season then some face-to-face time with the big green mean one is an absolute must. Aside from meeting the Grinch, you can also find his dog Max and several citizens of Who-Ville for a limited time during the the 2025 holiday season at Universal Studios Hollywood.

What to Expect

All around the Grinchmas area of Universal Plaza on the Upper Lot, you’ll find various residents from Who-Ville to interact with or you can opt to spend some quality time with the Grinch himself. You can also find his friendly dog Max or even adorable little Cindy-Lou Who may also be greeting guests.

You can also see these characters in various entertainment offerings over the course of the day. As always, appearances are subject to change. Always check the Universal app on the day of your visit for the latest schedules and information.

Meet the Grinch

He may have the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile but the Grinch is an undeniably popular character during the Grinchmas festivities — after all the event is literally named after him! This year, there’s THREE different ways that you can meet the Mean One.

  • WHERE: In the Universal Plaza on the Upper Lot you’ll find his regular dedicated meet and greet
    • WHEN: Every day during Grinchmas
    • TIME: Most of the day and evening
  • WHERE: At the Studio Tour exit you might find him at the Grinchmas photo-op at the “Who-llywood” sign
    • WHEN: Select days during Grinchmas
    • TIME: Select times from 12 pm – 5 pm
  • WHERE: At the Pass Member Exclusive Grinchmas Photo-Opportunity located above the Jurassic Cafe
    • WHEN: Nov. 24-27, 29-30 and Dec. 6, 2025
    • TIME: Select times between 12 pm – 5 pm

Meet Max

Who is the Grinch really without his faithful companion Max? He wouldn’t have been able to achieve his incredible feat without the adorable four-legged friend and you have the chance to meet him in person.

Meet Who-Ville Residents

You never quite know which residents of Who-Ville will be stopping by to celebrate Grinchmas. You have good chances of spotting favorites like Cindy Lou Who, the Mayor, or Martha May Whovier. But there’s several other residents who you might spot throughout the day and night!
