@mouseinfo

Star Trek: Red Alert invites you to step aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D for an immersive, story-driven, journey. The story is set in the year 2403, shortly after the events of Star Trek: Picard, and begins as a routine tour of the starship at the Starfleet Museum. Of course, things quickly escalate when a mysterious interstellar threat causes the warp core to destabilize. As the crew moves you through the ship to safety you’ll visit iconic locations including a shuttle station, sick bay, control room, and turbo lift, leading up to the bridge of the Enterprise-D. Check out our full POV walkthrough of the immersive experience. #UniversalFFN #FanFestNights

The Experience

This is a story-driven experience not too unlike a maze you’d find at Halloween Horror Nights but there’s no scares here; instead of just walking through at a steady stream, you are guided into specific story beats as you progress deeper into the ship as chaos unfurls.

What to Know

Head to the Pets Place area on the Upper Lot near the Starbucks to the former Walking Dead attraction. The whole experience is roughly 15-minutes and sees you board a shuttle, hit warp speed, and visit the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The story is set in the year 2403, shortly after the events of Star Trek: Picard, and begins as a routine tour of the starship. Things quickly escalate when a mysterious interstellar threat causes the warp core to destabilize.

You’ll start at the shuttle station before moving through to the ship’s sick bay, engineering control room, and turbo lifts encountering various human and alien crew aboard the ship before heading up to the bridge of the Enterprise-D. What’s amazing here is that this isn’t a replica—it’s a screen-used set originally created for Picard. The walk-through concludes in the transporter room where you are beamed back to Earth.

Quick Tips

  1. Waits should be manageable all night long, keep an eye on the app, you might want to do this one twice if you’re a fan.
  2. If you visit after 10pm, waits should be lower and the amount of people put into the experience with you should be considerably smaller than at the beginning of the night.
  3. Keep your eyes peeled for Easter eggs including a replicator whipping up… is that Tea, Earl Grey, Hot?
  4. Don’t be a p’tak. Immerse yourself into the world, don’t try to take the characters out of theirs by talking about the movies or show.

Final Thoughts / Review

Being a fan of the franchise is not a barrier to entry here. If you have seen any space adventure movie or show before you’re well equipped to understand what’s going on here. While this was perhaps the most basic of the three interactive experiences (besides Back to the Future and Dungeons and Dragons) this one still has some promise. The fact that you’re stepping into n actual screen-used set piece of the actual bridge is a really special opportunity.

Although Universal touts this as a story-driven experience, it’s perhaps the most similar to what fans will know from Halloween Horror Nights in that they are mostly passive observers in the action unfolding. Unlike the Halloween themed mazes though, you are guaranteed to get a full story narrative here as you are not just walking through at a steady clip. There’s some small opportunities that arise to interact with characters.

To help around out the experience, there’s also themed dining and shopping which you can learn more about below.
