Great Scott, this is heavy! BACK TO THE FUTURE is one of seven fandoms that are being celebrated during Universal Fan Fest Nights 2025 and we’ve got all the details confirmed for this year’s event! Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley will feature special characters, food, experiences and entertainment.

Here’s a look at what we know so far about Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley during Universal Fan Fest Nights 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Activities and Entertainment

An unfolding adventure will take place over the course of the evening with characters appearing for special moments recreating iconic scenes from the film throughout the hour.

Universal Fan Tram

If you don’t have a flying DeLorean then the only way to get into the experience is by boarding the Universal Fan Tram which is your portal back to Hill Valley in the Courthouse Square set where the original films were actually created.

Character Appearances

While Universal advises that there’s not traditional meet-and-greets, they do note that you’ll get a chance to say hello to Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and many more including doc’s faithful four-legged companion Einstein.

Various characters will invite you to follow along on a different story thread as the broader moments of the evenings tie in and coordinate.

Enchantment Under the Sea Dance

The party is extending beyond the school gym and out into the Town Square. Enjoy a lively festive environment that will include live music and even Marty McFly dropping in for an impromptu performance that might include an oldie or two.

Soak Up the Atmosphere

Roam at your own pace throughout Courthouse Square and snap pictures in the iconic spot where time travel happened and movie magic was made. Other memorable filming that happened here included projects such as:

Courthouse Square at Universal Studios has served as a backdrop for numerous films over the decades beyond the BACK TO THE FUTURE films. Here are few notable productions that filmed there:

Clock Tower Finale

As Doc Brown prepares his famous “weather experiment” you’ll witness the dramatic recreation of the iconic 1955 lightning stike on the clock tower that originally sent Marty back to 1985.

If you’re hungry while you’re visiting Hill Valley, you’ll find a themed snack cart serving up hot dogs, popcorn, churros and pretzels.

Mel’s Diner

Once you time travel back to 2025, head to Mel’s Dinner on the Upper Lot where you’ll find a selection of treats that will keep you fueled. This location closes at 1 am.
