They say a good idea never dies and it seems the thought to have a door coaster themed to Monster’s, Inc. was just too irresistible to pass up as Disney has confirmed that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will not only be getting the new attraction but an entire land to surround it.

Here’s everything we learned at the Disney Experiences Showcase at the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

The showcase for Disney Experiences at the Honda Center was hosted Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences (AKA head of Parks and Resorts). he was joined on stage by Disney Legend Billy Crystal who made the big reveal himself.

In this new land, it’s laughter they’re after in this new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. Picking up after the events of Pixar’s beloved film, humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. — and the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running smoothly.

The big news out of the announcement is not just the expected character greets, shopping, or dining (which seems to include a Harryhausen’s sushi!!) but the focal point of the land… a visit to the Monster’s, Inc. factory where you will be able to RIDE A DOOR through the factory! Josh added some additional details. “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”

Work on the project is slated to begin in 2025. An official opening date has not yet been announced.
