D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is having an epic kickoff party at the Happiest Place on Earth on August 8, 2024 with the official D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort. From rope drop to late into the night, D23 fans will find a bunch of offerings in anticipation of the largest gathering yet of Disney’s ultimate fan club.

Here’s everything we know so far about 2024 D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort.

What to Expect

Taking place on August 8 at both parks, fans can expect to find special photo opportunities, specialty foods, themed merchandise, and more. Plus, regular park admission (with a reservation) is all you need to partake in all the festivities — no D23 membership, reservations, or special tickets are needed to participate.

At Both Parks

  • Complimentary Mickey Mouse ear hats featuring the D23 Day at Disneyland Resort logo will be handed to guests entering Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park.
    • WHEN: From park opening, while supplies last
  • Rare Character Meet and Greets at both parks including:
    • Max and Goofy as seen in GOOF TROOP in Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland
    • Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear at Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure
  • Tarzan 25th anniversary merchandise collection: For a limited time, the “Tarzan” collection will be available at Disneyana at Disneyland park, Off the Page at Disney California Adventure park and WonderGround Gallery at the Downtown Disney District.
  • Commemorative D23 Day merch including apparel and more will be available across the resort
  • Collectible Medallions will be available for purchase at:
    • Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen in Disneyland park
    • Kingswell Shop at Disney California Adventure park
    • Near Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn at the Downtown Disney District.
  • Commemorative Magic Shot and PhotoPass downloads: You’ll be able to commemorate your visit to the first-ever D23 Day at Disneyland Resort with unique photo memories. As part of the festivities, all park guests with valid park admission and theme park reservations on Aug. 8, 2024, will receive complimentary unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos taken that day.*** Plus, Disney PhotoPass service will offer a special Magic Shot you can find that day!

At Disneyland

  • Celebratory D23 Cavalcade with the Disneyland Band and 23 Disney characters plus select Disney Legends.
    • WHEN: 12:15 pm
  • Energetic Dance Party featuring Stitch and other Disney characters at Tomorrowland Terrace
    • WHEN: 1-6 pm
  • Suburban Legends will be performing at at Tomorrowland Terrace
    • WHEN: Select set times from 7-11 pm

At Disney California Adventure

  • Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party
    • Character Cavalcade will be filled with music and fun as iconic Disney Jr. friends hit the road in a parade with dynamic drummers and dressed-out vehicles.  Joining in this whimsical processional and making her Disney Parks debut is Disney Jr.’s Ariel, who will make a special, one-day appearance at Disney California Adventure park on Aug. 8.
      • WHEN: At 10:30 a.m., along the performance corridor
    • “Disney Jr.’s Ariel” arts and crafts area at the Hollywood Backlot Stage where  families will be able to play along with Disney Jr. friends in a series of live performances
    • Confection Purrfection with the SuperKitties returns again after its debut this year at Food and Wine where kids can decorate cupcakes
    • Interact with characters from beloved Disney Jr. series, such as Winnie the Pooh, Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First and more.

At Downtown Disney

Additional celebratory offerings include unique photo locations, illusion art installations at Disney California Adventure park and Downtown Disney District.
